 Detail from Kyffin Williams portfolio
Printed by hand on Gregynog watermarked hand-made paper and presented in a hand-made quarter-cloth portfolio in a numbered edition limited to 100 sets.
A portfolio of 6 large prints printed from linocuts bequeathed to Gwasg Gregynog by the late Sir Kyffin Williams R.A., who was a staunch supporter of the Press during his lifetime.
Each print is on a full sheet of hand-made paper specially made for the Press at the Griffen Mill in County Mayo, Ireland, and has a Gregynog watermark in two corners of the sheet. Sheet size is Royal (c.500 x635mm), image sizes are as noted below.
The watermark design is based on Keith Holmes' press device for the 1975 Gregynog edition of R. S.Thomas's Laboratories of the Spirit. It is the first Gregynog water-marked paper to be produced since the 1930s. The edition - which is limited to 100 numbered sets - was printed at Gwasg Gregynog by Gerard O'Shea on a Soldans letterpress cylinder hand press, and the portfolios produced by Stephen Conway to a design by David Vickers: quarter black cloth with cloth sides, having the artist's initials blocked in black on the lower right-hand corner.
